Flautas de Colores is a recorder quartet from Brno which formed in 2010. The members are Pavla Ryšavá, Helena Smékalová, Anna Todorová and Martina Komínková who is concurrently the artistic director of the ensemble. The ensemble performed at a number of concerts and at various other events (Project: Party for quartets, Christmas fair at Cabbage square in Brno, Café Práh in Vaňkovka, benefit concerts etc.). They also have experiences from abroad - performance in Netherlands (Utrechts Centrum voor de Kunsten in 2012). The ensemble operates under EAS Veveří 133, Brno and its great success was the gaining of the title of absolute winner (this time being only the trio of the students) in the national round of the competition in chamber music in Liberec in 2010 and 2013.
The head of the ensamble Martina Komínková studied and became active in the musical world gradually in Hamburg, Krakow and Linz. At the moment she teaches recorder at the Conservatory Brno and at EAS Veveří Brno. She also performs on her own and, moreover, she is a member of several ensembles (recorder4mation, Duetto Nuovo, Tourdion).
Apart from the playing with the quartet the players are devoted to many other activities, not only musical (piano, singing) but also pictorial or sports activities.
The ensemble repertoire constitutes of imaginative compositions which are intended for the recorder (the era of Renaissance, Baroque and 20th and 21st centuries) but also by interesting arrangements (for example David and Goliath by J. Ježek or Take 5 by P. Desmond).
The name of the ensemble Flautas de Colores (colourful flutes) refers to the fact that we endeavour the music we play to be varied and interesting and that in this way it would bring to the listener experiences full of various moods and colours.
